Halloween
2020 seems like a horror movie, so it’s fitting that Halloween, the spookiest night of the year, falls on a Saturday. Saturdays are the prime-time event day of the week, which means the competition for the best Halloween party will be on. Delivering an amazing Halloween Party is not for the faint hearted, especially if guests are going the extra mile to find the perfect costume.
We thought we’d share a few tips to help take the pressure off and ensure your Halloween party is a night to remember and enjoy for everyone, especially the host.
Style of Halloween
With any event it’s important to have a clear idea of the style & theming, what do you want it to look like? It’s easy to spend a lot of money and end up with a bunch of tacky decorations that don’t really achieve your vision. Approach Halloween by deciding on what elements and styles you want to incorporate. For our clients we’ve done a range of different styles – Fright Nights, Witches Lair, Steam Punk, Haunted House and Zombies. Basically, the sky is the limit, but narrowing down your style will keep your stress and budget on track.
Immersive Experience
Have you ever been through a haunted house or a horror walk through? They’re scary because they appeal to multiple senses, it isn’t just what you see but what you hear and what you feel, sometimes what you smell and taste. You can achieve this on a smaller scale by using a killer spooky soundtrack, lighting & effects and if you want to be extra, have someone hiding to jump out and scare guests like Ellen does!
Costumes
Halloween parties provide the ultimate opportunity for amazing costumes, it creates investment from your guests and gets them excited. The scope for costumes is pretty wide, guests can commit as much or as little as they want. Some people will spend weeks preparing their looks (guilty) while others may wear just a witch’s hat, any level of effort is acceptable. If you want to inspire creativity have a prize for best dressed! These nights also make for great photo opportunities so make sure to have a photo area with good lighting; nobody has time for red-eye.
